DORA
Union Township recently approved an application to establish a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) for a portion of the Central (State Route 32) Retail Corridor. A DORA is a designated area where residents and visitors are permitted to purchase alcoholic beverages, in a designated cup, and carry/consume the beverage within the DORA boundaries.
When will the DORA be in effect?
DORA beverages must be purchased and consumed within the designated hours. The DORA is in effect seven days a week:
Monday – Thursday 5 to 10 p.m.
Friday & Saturday Noon to 10 p.m.
Sunday Noon to 8 p.m.
What are the boundaries of the DORA?
Union Township will have signage displayed at the boundaries to notify individuals of the DORA boundaries. The perimeter of the DORA includes Aicholtz Road, from the Civic Center campus to the access road, the Jungle Jim’s International Market block and the 32 East Retail Center. Please see the map below.
Where can I purchase a DORA beverage?
Beer, wine, and liquor purchased at one of these establishments may be consumed in a designated DORA cup. Only drinks purchased from qualified businesses within the DORA are allowed. No cans, glass bottles, or outside drinks are permitted within the boundaries. The following establishments are locations to purchase your DORA beverage:

- Rincon Mexicano Restaurant & Cantina
- RJ Cinema Distillery & Taproom
Can I take my DORA cup back inside the establishment where it was purchased?
Only empty cups can be taken into DORA establishments. Once you have purchased a DORA cup and left that establishment, the beverage must be consumed before you re-enter that establishment or any other business that serves alcoholic beverages.
Can I go in any establishments with my DORA cup?
Businesses that do not serve DORA beverages but welcome individuals who are enjoying their DORA beverages will have the below sticker decal displayed in their window/door:

Frequently Asked Questions
What if a business has neither a “participant” or a “non-participant” sticker? All businesses within the DORA have been provided stickers. If the DORA sticker is not displayed, you should inquire within the business before entering with a DORA beverage.
If I am drinking in the parking lot of the Township Civic Center, can I take my DORA beverage in the Township Center to use the facilities? No. The Township Civic Center will not permit DORA beverages within the building.
What about otherwise? Can I bring a DORA beverage into the Township office during a room reservation? No. The Township Civic Center will not permit DORA beverages within the building.

If the type of alcoholic beverage I like is not available at the business, can I buy a can or bottle, and dispense it into a DORA cup (perhaps from a prior beverage I purchased)? No. DORA cups are intended for DORA beverages only, and are sold at participating DORA establishments with a beverage purchase. You cannot just purchase a cup, nor can a person bring their own alcohol for purposes of filling a new or used DORA cup.
