Envision Eastgate

Union Township continues to look for ways to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors. Beginning in 2023, Union Township collaborated with McGill Smith Punshon, Inc. (MSP Design) to gain community interest for any potential growth in the Central Retail Corridor. 

MSP Design hosted community input sessions in the fall of 2023 for a potential multi-year Envision Eastgate project. Business owners, community residents and consumers joined MSP Design to discuss revitalization of Union Township’s Eastgate Mall area. The goal was to create a plan that embraces the community’s values and provides a distinctive vision for growth. Guest speakers included the developer, an architect, and an engineer.

The Eastgate Mall Master Plan is a representation of the culmination of feedback from the community visioning sessions. Included in the drafted master plan are visual interpretations based upon community response.

The Envision Eastgate visioning process was an essential component of understanding the types of amenities and development the community would like to see on the Mall property, thereby providing a lens through which to evaluate any specific new development proposal. While there is no immediate project or development proposal advancing currently, the Envision Eastgate initiative is critical because it identifies the types of uses that were viewed positively by the community. In addition, the documents are anticipated to help focus discussion regarding redevelopment of the site, consistent with the ideas expressed by the visioning process participants.
